Allison Stokke has been a pole vaulter for over 20 years. She was born on the 22nd of March, 1989, in Newport Beach California. She became a pole jumper in 2007 after she saw a photograph of her at a track meet aged 17. Instagram and Twitter has seen her gain a huge social media following. She's an athlete who is on the same track to Jessica Ennis Hill. Los Angeles Times reported, along with other publications it claimed that Stokke never sought out such attention. Brett Hutchins and David Rowe in their book Technology Power and Culture in the Network Society identified Stokke in the context of American soccer player Alex Morgan and Hope Solo, female athletes who claim to have been sexually abused and their pictures presented in a manner that they were unable to emphasize their sports achievements. In their book, Technology power and culture in the network society, Brett Hutchins and David Rowe compared Stokke with soccer players from America like Hope Solo and Alex Morgan who were fetishized. The authors also stated that social media can be insensitive. A lot of people drew comparisons to Brandi's celebration of victory at the FIFA World Cup Final 1999 sporting a t-shirt that she wore to the sport. Sports events for women are often dragged under the shadow of debates about their appearance. An editor from the Californian site for track and field took pictures of Stokke in New York at the beginning of 2007. The photos were published on the internet.
